Bengaluru: Bizarre, but true, a man involved in more than 50 burglary cases in Bengaluru was found to be sending the loot to a temple in Gujarat, where an idol of his mentor-father has been installed.
Talapad Navaganbhai alias Shankar (54), arrested recently by the Vijayanagar police, and a resident of Hosakerehalli is said to have stolen valuables worth over Rs 3 crores.

He was trained by his mentor-father Talapad Punjhabhai for burglary and as a pay back, Navaganbhai has been ensuring that a temple in Gujarat has idols of his mentor-father juxtaposed to the presiding goddess.

With business thriving in Bengaluru, Navaganbhai got his friend Rakesh to melt the stolen ornaments and make idols of his father, which were placed alongside a Goddess named Kodiyar Matha in a temple in Gujarat.

In 2007, a seventh standard pass out Navaganbhai came to Bengaluru and since then there has been no looking back.

Based on information given by Navaganbhai, Mitesh, his property manager in Gujarat and Rakesh have also been arrested.
