Bengaluru: The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) on Sunday resumed its bus services to Karnataka, providing a major relief to bus passengers travelling from Tamil Nadu to Karnataka and vice-versa.
The services were stopped on last Tuesday because of unrest in Karnataka over the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. TNSTC operates as many as 481 buses to Karnataka. An official informed on Sunday that services including the buses via Mandya and Mysuru have been resumed.
KSRTC has also resumed its services to Mandya, Mysuru, Hassan and Chamarajanagar, which was recently suspended due to the protests. “While our bus services to Chennai and Vellore via Kolar and Hosur were unaffected all these days, we had to suspend several services to Cauvery basin districts after protesters blocked several roads, including Mysuru-Bengaluru highway. But now all services are operational,” said a KSRTC official.
Commuters and labourers who are employed in Bengaluru are relieved. As TNSTC services were stopped, commuters found it difficult to reach their destinations. The TNSTC services are reportedly cheaper than other modes of transport.
