Cab Driver Steals ₹23L Valuables from Dancer-Actor Rukmini Vijayakumar’s Car, Nabbed

Bengaluru: A 45-year-old cab driver from Tamil Nadu has been arrested by city police for stealing a bag containing diamond jewellery, a Rolex watch, and other valuables worth approximately ₹23 lakh from the car of renowned dancer and actor Rukmini Vijayakumar.

The incident took place on Sunday morning when Rukmini, 42, parked her car near the Queen’s Road bus stop opposite Chinnaswamy Stadium before heading for a walk in Cubbon Park. She reportedly left her car doors unlocked, with the bag inside.

The accused, Raza Mohammed Mastan, who was nearby, noticed the unattended and unlocked vehicle. Seizing the opportunity, he took the bag and fled. The theft occurred sometime between 8 am and 10 am. Rukmini filed a complaint the same day.

Following an investigation, police tracked and arrested Mastan in Mahalakshmi Layout. The stolen items were recovered from his residence.

Rukmini Vijayakumar, a Bharatanatyam exponent and film actor, is known for roles in Ananda Thandavam, Bhajarangi, Kochadaiyaan, and Sita Ramam.
