Bengaluru: The State Cabinet on Wednesday also approved the leasing of buses for the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) at a cost of Rs. 77 crore for 1,500 buses. This announcement was made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in this year’s annual Budget.
In addition, an amount of Rs. 87.9 crore was also approved towards the purchase of buses for BMTC. In the Budget, the purchase of 1,500 buses by the State for use by BMTC had been announced.
The Cabinet also approved the establishment of a Special Purpose Vehicle for Bengaluru Smart City Mission.
Cauvery Water Supply Scheme
The Cabinet approved the increase in the project cost of Cauvery water supply scheme (Stage V) from Rs. 5,052 crore to Rs. 5,550 crore of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
The project aims to provide a sewerage network system to newly added 110 villages within the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and bulk water supply of 775 MLD under the JICA aided project.
