Bengaluru: Differences surfaced again in the state cabinet over recruiting 362 candidates selected by Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC ) in the year 2011. Some were in favour of considering all 362 candidates for the selection where as the rest preferred submitting a plea in the high court to proceed further on the issue.Department of personnel and administration reforms (DPAR) had recommended the state government to appeal in the high court against Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) decision.

The CID in its report on corruption and irregularities in selection of candidates by KPSC had noted 46 as tainted. The state Advocate General (AG) had asked the government to proceed with the recruitment of probationary officers leaving aside 46 tainted candidates.

Some ministers were of the view, recruiting all 362 candidates will send a wrong message since the government earlier had opposed the same on the ground of corruption.

With no recruitment in the state KAS cadre over last 5 years, administration has taken a beating and hence few suggested on going ahead with the recruitment.

However, the cabinet meeting remained inconclusive after few preferred approaching the high court as suggested by DPAR. In case of an adverse judgement, then the government can think of an alternative, they contended, to ensure the credibility of the government over the issue.

The issue is likely to figure in the next cabinet meeting to find a way out to resolve the long pending issue.
