Calendar with rare photographs of Dr B R Ambedkar released

Bangalore: Dr. B R Ambedkar Development Corporation, under the auspices of Social Welfare Department, has released a calendar with rare photographs of the Architect of the Indian Constitution.

Dr. B R Ambedkar Development Corporation Chairman M S Basavaraju, releasing the calendar for the year 2018, said it is the first time to bring out the rare facets of Dr Ambedkar in the form of photographs.

Rare photographs relating to prominent events in the life of Dr Ambedkar have been sources from Delhi in bid to introduce various aspects of the leader among the people.

He said the Corporation has made its foray in modernisation by total digitalising of its operations. The Corporation’s website gives immediate access to information including programmes and schemes implemented by the Corporation.

The Kalyana Mobile App provides a single window opportunity across all the wings of the Social Welfare Department and communicate with the government in real time.

The Dr. B R Ambedkar Development Corporation was established in 1975 with the aim of elevating SC/ST beneficiaries from the poverty line with financial assistance under various schemes and programmes.

Under the Land Ownership scheme, the Corporation extends financial assistance of up to Rs 15 lakh for purchasing land with 50 per cent as loan and 50 per cent financial assistance.

Under the present Government, financial assistance of Rs 277.18 crore has been granted to 4327 beneficiaries for the purchase of 5798 acres of land.

Under the Ganga Kalyana Scheme irrigation facility is provided to agriculture land of SC/ST beneficiaries through lift irrigation or sinking of bore wells.

From 2013-14 to 2017-18 as many as 35584 borewells have been sunk at a cost of Rs 721.09 crore. Of these borewells 30060 have been electrified besides community irrigation facilities have been provided to 2570 beneficiaries.

Under the skill development and self-employment scheme Rs 364.26 crore has been provided to 6973 beneficiaries. During the same period Rs 249.29 crore has been provided to 6973 beneficiaries with self-employment units below Rs 1 lakh.

In the current year 3500 unemployed youth have been provided with a financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh each to run tourist taxis.

Dr. B R Ambedkar Development Corporation Managing Director Srinivasulu said the corporation has taken steps towards modernisation with digitalisation. Online transfer of funds has been made to over one lakh beneficiaries and information to beneficiaries is available at their fingertips.

Digitalization has enabled speedy implementation of schemes and disbursement of funds directly to the beneficiaries. Information is available to the beneficiaries at every stage after applying for schemes bringing in transparency.

The delay caused by frequent visits by the beneficiaries to the legislators, banks, district offices in respect of their application for various schemes and loans has been eliminated. The disbursement of funds to the beneficiaries’ bank account is intimated to him by SMS.
