Bengaluru: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday February 2 organised a candlelight vigil in honour of the teacher who lost her life after being hit by a truck on Sunday January 30.
She had been riding with her husband on a pothole-riddled road when she fell off the bike. The accident occurred shortly after the Karnataka High Court called out the BBMP’s report on the state of Bengaluru’s potholes to be a fraud.
AAP Bengaluru President Mohan Desari had called for a candlelight vigil to draw attention to the issue. Hundreds of people from Rajajinagar, Begur, Sunkenahalli, Malleswaram, and other districts of Bengaluru attended the vigil to honour the late teacher.
The AAP has launched a social media campaign, #WhoKilledSharmila, to highlight Bengaluru’s road quality. The party has been running different campaigns in recent months to draw attention to infrastructure issues in the city, especially potholes.
