Bengaluru: The AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala’s claims of a Bitcoin scam in Karnataka were dismissed by the Karnataka BJP on Saturday November 13. The BJP’s Chief Spokesperson Capt. Ganesh Karnik, has stated there was no such scam.

“There hasn’t been any kind of scam at all. Therefore, any suggestions that there are any actors involved in this scam are based on a perverted imagination,” he stated. According to the sources, Karnik’s statement has a striking resemblance to Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant’s statement.

He further said that no Bitcoins were transferred from the account of hacker Srikrishna. Karnik informed that while the police initially planned to transfer Bitcoins to the police wallet account for the purpose of inquiry with the consent of the Court, such a situation did not emerge later. This was due to the fact that a wallet holding 186.81 Bitcoins, which Srikrishna claimed was his own account, turned out to be a live wallet belonging to an exchange.

Sriki claimed to have hacked other websites. Preliminary investigation, however, revealed that the majority of his claims were false. Nonetheless, as he claimed to have hacked a number of crypto currency websites, the incident was reported to the CBI Interpol on April 28, 2021, in order to alert the countries concerned.

He went on to say that the same information was given with the Enforcement Directorate. Karnik wanted to make it clear that the police conducted the entire investigation in a transparent manner. “At no point during the probe was the Home Minister or any other politician involved.”
