Neighbours and friends indicate that this visit was part of their annual routine during the festival. Preliminary enquiries with eye witnesses indicate that the driver may have been drowsy and came directly in the path of a KSRTC bus on the way from the Bengaluru to Hassan.

As the SUV rammed into the oncoming bus, the front portion was smashed in such a way leaving no scope for survival. The intensity of the accident was such that even the people travelling in the bus suffered minor injuries.

Nelamangala Traffic Police rushed to the spot and assessed the situation.
