Bengaluru: There are intruders at the Raj Bhavan, who are causing a lot of inconvenience. If sources are to be believed than these four-legged furry intruders have caused such havoc that the Raj Bhavan authorities have called upon the BBMP to ensure that the intruders are tackled.

At least 25 cats have made Raj Bhavan their ‘home’ and hence been creating nuisance at the residence of the Governor.

A source at the Raj Bhavan said, “The cats are very aggressive and cause trouble whenever the Governor goes out for a walk, especially with his dogs. The cats have even injured the dogs. The halls and private residence of the Governor and VIPs are littered with dirt due to these cats.”

Unable to face the troublesome cats, Raj Bhavan officials have sent a strong letter to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to immediately trap and take away the infuriating felines.

Senior Assistant Director of Horticulture summoned a letter to the BBMP for immediate intervention. The complaint was acknowledged by the Joint Director of Animal Husbandry, BBMP, G Anand, who visited Raj Bhavan on Wednesday to look into the situation.

“We observed the cats and all of them are free range cats and not domesticated. Hence, the process requires the intervention of the forest department and we have told the forest cell of the BBMP to assist us. Also, we are equipped to catch dogs. But we do not have the expertise to trap cats. It is difficult to catch these cats as they escape in a fraction of a second. On Wednesday also, a few climbed on to the trees and others disappeared into bushes across the garden. We are still figuring out how to catch these cats,” said Anand to DH

The BBMP specialises in catching stray dogs, but attempts to catch cats have failed as the felines are not domesticated. A cat expert summoned by the BBMP officials has sought a couple of days’ time to study their behaviour to trap the cats.
