Bengaluru: The executive committee members of Bangalore Tamil Sangam on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara seeking protection to Tamilians in Karnataka due to the ongoing agitation against the Supreme Court’s directive to Karnataka to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
The delegation led by G Damodaran, president of Bangalore Tamil Sangam met Home Minister Parameshwara at Vidhana Soudha and sought protection to Tamilians in sensitive areas such as Bangalore, Mysore, Mandya, Chamarajpet and Kolar Gold Fields. The delegation has reiterated its support to Karnataka state government on Cauvery water dispute.
The home minister had assured the Tamil Sangam delegation to take all measures to protect Tamilians in Karnataka by providing police security in sensitive areas.
The Tamil Sangam members have appealed Tamil speaking people to contact Tamil Sangam in case of any untoward incidents at their respective areas.
KPCC General Secretary S S Pragasam, T G Damodaran, vice president of Bangalore Tamil Sangam were present on the occasion.
