Bengaluru: The Cauvery Water Management Authority will meet today and is expected to discuss a number of issues. Water management for the next couple of months, the demand of Tamil Nadu to release its share of water, the current water crisis in the Cauvery basin of Karnataka and the quantity of water required for the drinking water purposes are expected to be some of the topics up for discussion.
The meeting will be held at the Authority’s office in New Delhi and will be chaired by its chairman Masood Hussain.
Representatives of all the Cauvery basin states will attend the meeting and the Karnataka government is likely to raise an objection to the demand for water release to Tamil Nadu citing the present drought condition in the state.
