Bengaluru: An alleged bookie was arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials in connection to the Karnataka Premier League match-fixing probe on Wednesday, October 2.
The accused has been identified as Bhavesh Bafna. He was arrested after an FIR was filed against him by the CCB. The FIR also names another bookie identified as Sanyam, who has not yet been arrested, according to Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Patil.
Patil informed ANI that the two bookies had requested bowlers from the KPL team Ballari Tuskers to concede “more than ten runs per over but the bowlers refused.”
It can be recalled that the Belgavi Panthers team owner Ali Ashfaq Thara was arrested in connection to the scandal. Ali reportedly faces charges after placing bets on KPL matches with a Dubai bookie.
