Bengaluru: The Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for the admission to the various professional courses will go online from the next academic year. According to BH Anil Kumar, additional chief secretary (Higher education department), from the year 2020, the CET examination will go online.

According to the KEA sources, the authority is planning to use the technical infrastructure available in both the government and the private colleges to hold the examination in line with NEET, JEE and CAT. “The idea was to hold the CET examination online from this academic year, but due to the last minute challenges, we decided to go ahead with pen and paper pattern. However, from the next academic year, it will be an online examination,” explained an officer from the KEA.
“At every centre, we need 500 computers to hold the examination. To ensure that the KEA will not face any problem, it is planned to make the examination a week-long process by giving different date and time schedule for the candidates,” he explained.
According to the authorities, higher education minister GT Devegowda will hold a preparatory meeting at the KEA auditorium and finalise the plan.
