Bengaluru: Chairpersons for 11 standing committees of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) were elected unopposed on Wednesday while the election of chairperson for one committee has been postponed.
During the elections held at the BBMP Council Hall, four Congress corporators, four JD(S) corporators and three independent corporators were elected unopposed. With no corporator filing nomination for the chairperson post of standing committee on Establishment and Administrative Reforms, Mayor G Padmavathi has postponed the election to this particular committee and announced the election of chairpersons for 11 standing committees.
The following are the standing committees and chairpersons: Tax and Finances (M Gunasekhar, Congress corporator from Jayamahal ward), Major Works (D Chandrappa, Congress corporator from Hombegowda Nagar ward), Horticulture (Meenakshi, Congress corporator from Benniganahalli ward), Appeals (Seema Altafkhan, Congress corporator from JJ Nagar ward), Town Planning and Development (Manjula N Swamy, JD(S) corporator from Laggere ward), Ward-level Works (B Bhadre Gowda, JD(S) corporator from Nagapura ward), Accounts (Nethra Narayana, JD(S) corporator from Kaval Byrasandra ward), Education (Umaisalma, JD(S) corporator from KR Market ward, Public Health (Anand Kumar, Independent corporator from Hoysalanagar ward), Social Justice (V Elumalai, Independent corporator from Sagayapura ward), Markets (M Gayathri, Independent, KP Agrahara ward).
