Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited’s (BMRCL) apparent lapse in planning is expected to cost 127 additional trees on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) Metro line between Kadubeesanahalli and Central Silk Board. BMRCL has changed its construction plans and asked to have the trees axed.

After beginning work on the ORR line at the beginning of 2022, the BMRCL has already axed 1,257 trees between Kadubeesanahalli, Central Silk Board (CSB), and KR Puram. Over 780 trees were shifted from these areas and transplanted at various locations, totalling 2,037 trees removed from Kadubeesanahalli to the Baiyappanahalli Metro station.

Environmentalists have criticised the modification, calling it a serious lapse by BMRCL.
