Chickpet vendors decide to lockdown entire areas voluntarily till June 30

Bengaluru: In the first of its kind decision in any part of the country, vendors of Chikpet announced a voluntary shutdown of business for 10 days to contain the spread of COVID-19.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the vendors’ association, on Sunday after several locals tested positive for COVID 19

Neighboring Sultanpet will also remain shut down for the next ten days.

These two markets in the heart of the city are known for hectic business activity. The common belief is that everything is available under a single roof in this place.
