Bengaluru: Congress workers staged a protest at the Mekri Circle in the city on Saturday, holding Chombu (a small pot) in their hands condemning the Modi government’s alleged injustice to the state in terms of providing drought relief and tax devolution.
The workers gathered under the leadership of AICC General Secretary Randeep Surjewala, rasing slogans against the union government. Congress leaders alleged the people of Karnataka got the pot in lieu of the promises of depositing Rs 15 lakh into everyone’s account, doubling farmers’ income, tax devolution, and drought and flood relief to the state.
Congress leaders Rizwan Arshad, Abhishek Dutt, KPCC secretary Vijay Mugund, SE Sudhindra, and others were present. The police took the protesting leaders and party workers into custody and released them later.
