Cine actor Bhavana Rao inaugurates ‘Reflectionz’ by Sankara College

Bengaluru: Cine actor Bhavana Rao inaugurated ‘Reflektionz’, the 7th edition of the intercollegiate cultural festival conducted by the Sankara College of Optometry at its premise.

Speaking after inaugurating the cultural festival, she said, “When I look back, the most memorable days are those that I spent at college. It is heartwarming to see a college festival not being just about song and dance but also a platform for highlighting important social causes.”

Dr. Kaushik Murali, President, Sankara Eye Foundation India, said, “It is important for healthcare students to develop empathy for their patients and also towards society. We have collaborated with CII–Young Indians to curate events for students here from across India and other parts of the world and to exhibit their talent and also imbibe social responsibility.”

The two-day festival had events that showcased culture, fine arts, aptitude and inspired the youth to demonstrate their talents through quiz, mono acting, short films, singing etc.“Be the change you want to see in the world”, said Mahatma Gandhi. Inspired by the Mahatma, 350 students of optometry from across South India pledged to be compassionate, responsible citizens and work to eliminate blindness.

About Sankara College of Optometry

The Sankara College of Optometry is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The college, a part of the Sankara Academy of Vision (Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Medical Trust), leverages on the latest infrastructure and equipment and eminent faculty drawn from across the region, to ensure that the students are not only qualified but also capable. The college is a part of the Association of Schools and Colleges in Optometry (ASCO) and also affiliated to the World Council of Optometry. The college offers a 4-year graduate course in optometry and the faculty also trains optometrists in specialised short term fellowships.
