Bengaluru: The brand new Phase-1 building of the Karnataka Judicial Academy was inaugurated by Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde on Saturday, January 11.
Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol and other leaders were present.
In his welcome speech, Justice Ravi Malimath, a Karnataka High Court judge and president of the Karnataka Judicial Academy, said that around 4000 judicial officers were already being trained at the academy, which strives for excellence in the judiciary field.
The phase-1 building consists of a parking area in the lower and upper basement, with the capacity to accommodate 44 cars and 124 two-wheelers. The ground floor consists of a fully air-conditioned 319-seater multi-purpose auditorium, an 84-seater lecture hall, two lecture halls with a seating capacity of 40 each, a VIP lounge, two discussion rooms and an administrative office for the staff.
The Phase-II building, which will come up in the near future, will have a 36-four-wheeler and 22-two-wheeler parking capacity in the lower basement and 30-two-wheeler and 32-four-wheeler capacity in the upper basement.
Both the buildings of the academy are executed by the Public works Department (PWD) at a total cost of Rs 96.02 crores, spread across 2.2 acres of land.
