Bengaluru: The Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) kick-started the cloud seeding process across the state after the drought condition in some parts failed to improve. The process started at 4.30 PM on Thursday at the HAL airport.
Two aircrafts have been used for this purpose. The first flight flew over the skies in Kolar while another went Kanakapura and Chamarajanagar.
“On day one, not many rain-bearing clouds were found,” informed the RDPR authorities about the result.
The cloud seeding exercise in the state is being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 45 crores.
According to the authorities, one of the aircrafts will be operated from the Mysuru airport while the other will be moved to the Hubballi airport in the next few days.
