Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Congress leader Siddaramaiah were seen engaging in a war of words on social media platform Twitter over “moral policing” in the State on Thursday October 14. During a press conference in Dakshina Kannada, the CM downplayed the rise in ‘moral policing’ incidents, saying, “When feelings are hurt, there would be reactions.”

CM Bommai defended a BJP leader’s support for a moral policing incident in Bengaluru, saying that “protecting social harmony is everyone’s responsibility.”

Siddaramaih condemned CM Bommai’s support on moral policing and alleged in a tweet, “You have accepted your incapability to maintain law & order by justifying moral policing by few anti-social elements.”
Please resign & save Karnataka!!”

“Whenever women are subjected to moral policing henceforth, Can the people of Karnataka assume that you are the true reason for the crime?”

It is more criminal to encourage & incite violence, and protect the perpetrators,” tweeted Siddaramaiah.

“All I said was in our society there will be reaction to every action and law will take its own course unlike in your tenure Hindus were killed right left and Center, you need to hold mirror to yourself, God knows how you sleep with blood on your hands,” tweeted CM Bommai in response to Siddaramaiah’s tweet.

The battle continued when Siddaramaiah tweeted in response to CM Bommai, “Do you have any plans to dissolve the police department, and handover the law & order to RSS?

Or are you planning to establish Jungle Raj?”

To this CM Bommai replied that “RSS is a tallest Nation building organisation, which treats every citizen equally unlike your selective appeasement for votes.”

CM Bommai also stated that while Siddaramaiah was the CM, he became the icon of anti-Hindus by getting killed Hindu activists as Tipu Sultan did in his regime. “I need not learn administration or policing from you, we have an able police force to tackle the law and order which was sitting Ducks under ur government,” he slammed at Siddaramaiah.

Siddaramaiah continued with his tweet, “Do you have any plans to dissolve the police department, and handover the law & order to RSS? Or are you planning to establish Jungle Raj?”

CM Bommai wrote that “Jungle Raj was when you were blind, deaf and dumb to the killings of Hindus under your tenure, in my administration, it’s the law which takes the action while in yours it was jungle raj hence Hindus were killed on supari and many riots took place.”

“Your @DHFWKA minister @mla_sudhakar had insulted women by questioning their independence, and now you speak of protecting anti-social elements. Is your loyalty towards our Constitution or towards Manu Smriti?” tweeted Siddaramaiah.

However, the feud between the two has gathered momentum in Twitter under the hashtag #MoralPolicing, #CMSupportsMoralPolicing and #ResignKarnatakaCM.
