Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa celebrated his 78th birthday in a grand manner with a public event at Palace Grounds on February 27, which was organised by his fans, supporters and party workers.
The event was attended by Union Minister Rajnath Singh and was attended by former chief ministers of the state-Siddaramaiah, HD Kumaraswamy, DV Sadananada Gowda, Jagadish Shettar and SM Krishna.
The close bond between Siddaramaiah and BSY outside the political arena was evident. BSY welcomed Siddaramaiah with warmth and Siddaramaiah too wished BSY with affection.
Later, BSY was felicitated with a green shawl and was also handed over with a plough-symbolising his agrarian background.
Addressing the gathering Rajnath Singh said that BSY commands respects at the national level.
“Hailing from a humble agriculture family, BSY made his way up to the top cadres of the party through sheer hard work and determination. Those days were not easy. He peddled his cycle and fortified the party,” he said.
BJP top guns B L Santhosh, Minister Suresh Kumar among others were present.
