Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has denied handing over DySP Ganapathy’s suicide case to the CBI for investigation. Replying to the Opposition’s demand to hand over the case to CBI after special discussion under section 69, the CM said in State assembly on Wednesday that there is no need to hand over the case. He exuded confidence in the State CID which is capable of finding the cause which led to the suicide.
Adding further he said, the State government had handed over eight cases after the party came to power. “Every case cannot be handed over to CBI and the present case doesn’t need CBI investigation as no cognizable offence is found.” He also defended Mohanty saying that Ganapathi did not serve under him during his tenure.
Defending KJ George in strong terms he said, that there is no solid ground to drop the minister from the Cabinet nor any concrete reason for him to resign on his own.
Opposition BJP has stepped up its demand for the resignation of Karnataka Minister K.J. George for allegedly abetting the suicide of police officer through protest rallies held in various parts of the state. Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) lawmakers also sought George’s resignation in the state assembly.
DySP M K Ganapthi, in an interview to a news channel hours before his death blamed the trio, minister KJ George, Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence A.M. Prasad and Lokayukta (Ombudsman) inspector general of police Pronab Mohanty forseeing danger to his life.
