CM directs BDA to clear encroachment of civic amenities sites

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday directed Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) Commissioner Rajkumar Khatri to clear all encroachments of civic amenities sites in Arkavathi and Kempegowda Layouts within one month.

Presiding over a review meeting of various developmental works taken up by the BDA and Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) at his home office Krishna here, the chief minister has exhorted the BDA and BWSSB officials to take up works on priority basis and complete those works at the earliest.

The chief minister noted that sufficient care should be given towards development of tanks and parks in various layouts. “The reservoirs that supply drinking water to Bengaluru were not filled during monsoon. Water storage in reservoirs had reached minimum level. I want the BWSSB authorities to utilise the available water sources around Bengaluru to ensure water supply in the summer,’’ the chief minister said. He also directed the BDA to release water bill arrears of Rs 30 Crore to the BWSSB in installments.

Bengaluru Development Minister K J George, Science and Technology Minister M R Sitaram, Mayor G Padmavathi, BDA Chairman Venkatesh, Urban Development Additional Chief Secretary Mahendra Jain and others attended the meeting.
