Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed the urban development department to speed up the under progress infrastructural projects and complete them before next march end.
Speaking to media after cabinet meeting on Wednesday, he said that the infrastructural projects which were undertaken with the funds released by 14th finance commission will be completed on or before March end.
However, he also said that officials concerned, including District Commissioners, had been instructed to look into the matter and assure that the projects will get completed within deadline. Overall 2,54,148 public toilets will be constructed in the state by the same time which is undertaken by ‘Swachch Bharat’ project initiated by central government, the CM said.
Adding further, government will build one lac houses for the poor people under “Ellarigu Sooru” (shelter for all) project in next few months, Siddaramaiah said. “So far 80,000 beneficiaries have been identified and 25,000 houses have already been allocated under the project. A total of 40,000 houses are under construction and will be completed soon,” he said.
There are 11 water supply projects and nine drainage projects, which under progress and will be completed soon, he added. The minister for Urban Development Roshan Baig, Chief Secretary Aravind Jadhav and other officials were present in the meeting.
