Bengaluru: Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday in New Delhi and requested the Prime Minister to release the central share on the rural job guarantee scheme and the additional drought relief amount as per the NDRF guidelines.
In his memorandum to the Prime Minister, Kumaraswamy informed that as per the NDRF guidelines the state is eligible for Rs. 2,434 crores relief, but till now the central government released less than 50%. A sum of Rs.1,351 crores wages under the job guarantee scheme is also pending.
“All this is causing a lot of problems in the state,” he informed the PM.
CM HDK also brought to notice the issue of severe drought in over 156 taluks of Karnataka and urged the Prime Minister to release additional Rs.2,000 crores to take up the drought relief works.
Speaking to the reporters after the meeting CM HD Kumaraswamy expressed confidence of additional relief amount from the central government.
