Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday disclosed that he has received threats to his life and has asked the police to probe the matter. Responding to media questions in Mandya about legislative assembly speaker UT Khader allegedly receiving threats, Siddaramaiah stated, “Even I’ve been threatened. Not much can be done about such things, but I’ve instructed the police to trace the caller.”

This revelation follows UT Khader’s acknowledgment of threats linked to the 2020 attack on former minister Tanveer Sait. Khader mentioned his cooperation with the National Investigation Agency, which is currently investigating activities of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI).

During the same interaction, Siddaramaiah criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not responding to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. “Why didn’t the PM visit the attack site? Isn’t it important?” he questioned, calling it a failure in national security.

He also condemned BJP leaders for selectively visiting crime scenes, accusing them of exploiting such incidents for political gain. Addressing the recent Suhas Shetty murder in Mangaluru, the CM noted the victim had a criminal background and ordered the ADGP to ensure swift arrests.

Touching on the larger issue of social justice, Siddaramaiah accused the RSS and BJP of historically opposing reservation policies. He reiterated his demand for a nationwide caste census and a constitutional amendment to raise the 50% cap on reservations. The CM also advocated for extending reservation benefits into the private sector to address caste-based inequality.
