
CM Siddaramaiah to Inaugurate Cauvery 5th Stage Water Supply Project
Mandya : The long-anticipated Cauvery 5th Stage Drinking Water Project is set for inauguration on October 16 at 10:30 AM in Torekadanahalli (T.K. Halli), Malavalli taluk. The ceremony will take place at the premises of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), marking a significant advancement in water supply for the region.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will preside over the official launch of the project. The event will also feature prominent guests, including Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy. Several state ministers, such as Shobha Karandlaje and V. Somanna, will also be in attendance, showcasing the project’s importance at both state and national levels.
P.M. Narendra Swamy, MLA of Malavalli, will preside over the event, highlighting the local leadership’s involvement in this significant development.
The Cauvery 5th Stage Drinking Water Project is set to connect approximately 4 lakh households, directly benefiting around 5 million residents in the area. With a total estimated cost of ₹4,336 crores, the project aims to enhance water supply to 110 villages under the BBMP jurisdiction, including Yelahanka, Yeshwanthpur, Bangalore South, Byatarayanapura, and Bommanahalli.
This project represents a major milestone in ensuring clean and reliable drinking water for the region. As urban areas continue to expand, access to potable water has become increasingly crucial.
