Bengaluru: In the next nine months, the air passengers can reach the Kempegowda International Airport in Devanahalli in a commuter train. As per the agreement reached between the KIAL authorities and the South Western Railway (SWR), trains will be operated from Yesvantpur to the Airport. The railway station will come up in the airport lounge from where passengers can reach the terminals in dedicated buses operated by the KIAL. According to the sources privy to the developments, the trains from Yesvantpur will take less than 25 minutes to reach the KIAL.
“These trains will have a stop at Yelhanka railway station also. Only a single stop will be provided to these commuter trains. They will be very helpful for the KIAL employees and others,” informed sources. Even though the BMRCL has proposed Metro connection to the airport, it needs another six years for the completion. “The commuter train is best suited for the present-day transport problems between the city and the airport,” informed authorities.
