Confident about win, says CM dubbing exits polls as ‘entertainment’

Bengaluru: Terming the exit polls as “entertainment for the next 2 days”, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Sunday advised all the party workers to enjoy their weekend and stop worrying about the forecasts hinting towards a hung assembly.

The comments came a day after Siddaramaiah termed BS Yeddyurappa as being ‘mentally disturbed’ after the latter’s proclamation that he would take oath as the chief minister on May 17.

On May 12, the people of Karnataka cast their votes to elect a new government. While most of the exit polls have predicted a hung assembly with both the Congress and the BJP failing to get a clear majority, they are also divided about which out of the two would emerge the single largest party. The JD(S) is being termed as the kingmaker in the exit polls.

Taking to Twitter, a confident Siddaramaiah likened these exit polls to entertainment drama for next two days and asked party workers to enjoy their weekend and not to worry about the forecasts while stating that Congress would stage a come back.

His tweets read:
“Exit opinion polls are entertainment for the next 2 days. Relying on poll of polls is like a person who can’t swim crossing a river on foot relying on a statistician who told him the average depth of the river is 4 feet. Please note average of 6+4+2 is 4. At 6 feet you drown!

So, Dear party workers, supporters & well wishers, don’t worry about exit polls. Relax & enjoy your weekend. We are coming back.”

The results of the state elections will be known on Tuesday, May 15.
