Bengaluru: In the ongoing political turmoil unfurling in the Karnataka state Assembly, Speaker Ramesh Kumar tried to put the House to vote for the confidence motion immediately.

The ruling Congress-JD(S) leaders, however, tried to filibuster the process and insisted on debating the issue before putting it to vote.

Meanwhile, BJP state president and Opposition leader B S Yeddyurappa demanded that the trust vote be conducted immediately and asked why the process is being delayed.

The Congress-JD(S) leaders contended saying that before the vote is taken up, the people of Karnataka need to know what are the issues of the rebel MLAs. In a bid to delay the vote, they also asked why the Speaker has not made a decision on the resignations of the rebel MLAs.

Some sources speculated that the coalition government is hoping for a miracle and trying all they can to get in contact with the rebel MLAs. They also said that if things continue to go the same way, then the trust vote may not be conducted today. The sources added that if the coalition government does not manage to get the numbers, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy might resign without taking up the trust vote.
