Bengaluru: In sync with the general belief that coalition government do not last long due to incompatibility, here in Karnataka, the to-be partners- the Congress and the JD(S) are already running into troubles over formation of the government.

If sources are to be believed then rift is already cropping up between the coalition partners over appointment for the post of the Speaker in the Assembly. It is said that the Congress leaders have started asserting that the post of the Speaker must be left to them as the Chief Minister post has been given to the JD(S).

However, the JD(S) has demanded to retain the Speaker’s position as well. Insiders say that the Congress wants senior leader Ramesh Kumar to become the Speaker, while JD(S) is vouching for AT Ramaswamy. It is a well known fact that if disagreements and crisis erupt between the partners, it is the speaker who will play a significant role.

Hence both the parties want a upper hand in this case. The talks of confusion over power sharing has been making rounds in the power corridors ever since BS Yeddyurappa stepped down from the post of the Chief Minister.

The Congress, which has promised unconditional support initially has now reportedly started keeping forth various demands. “The Congress has, in clear terms said that the JD(S) should refrain from making unilateral decision,” said a source on conditions of anonymity.

It is believed that ambiguity prevails over number of Deputy CM posts, portfolios to be shared and the number of ministerial berths that could be divided between the two. The meeting between HD Kumaraswamy- Sonia and Rahul on Monday is considered to be crucial as it is during this meeting that all these issues will be
discussed and finalised.
