Bengaluru:Fearing that as the medico-legal case registered by the Ramanagar police may create more embarrassment for the party in the state, Congress leaders including AICC in-charge KC Venugopal, former CM Siddaramaiah, home minister MB Patil, major irrigation minister DK Shivakumar, and others met party MLA from Vijayanagar in Ballari Anand Singh at a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for the head injuries, on the wee hours of Monday at 1.30 AM.
According to the sources, the hospital authorities informed the Ramanagar police about the medico-legal case pertaining to the attack on Anand Singh. Singh’s family members want an FIR against a Congress MLA for assault. “If FIR is registered, it may create more problems for the coalition government. So senior leaders decided to meet Singh who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital to convince him,” said a Congress legislature.
“Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar urged Anand Singh to resolve the matter at the party level instead of going to the police. But Singh didn’t reply,” he explained.
Leaders explained to Singh on the challenges before the party and how they helped him in the bad times. “They sought an assurance from Singh that he will not create more problems for the party in Ballari in coming days. But Singh was silent,” he added.
