Bengaluru: The Congress party is planning to appoint a senior Muslim leader to carry on a campaign for the party in Karnataka. However, the name of the senior leader was not revealed as it would lead to a polarisation of the votes.
A Congress leader on conditions of anonymity said that the revelation of the name of the leader may lead to other political parties which represent the minorities indulge into polarisation of votes.
Another leader of the party said that in Karnataka, the party would follow the same strategy which was followed in Bihar in 2015. Then the Congress-RJD coalition had won 27 constituencies. He recalled that because of the coalition with Asaduddin Owaisi, the Congress could not get more minority votes in Nanded Vagha Municipal Corporation of Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, JDS rebel MLA Jameer Ahmed said that he would prefer death rather than joining the JDS again. He cautioned voters to be vary of the JDS intentions as it only wants to play the ‘king maker’in state politics.
