Controversy Erupts Over Suspended Cop’s Inclusion in CM Medal List
Bengaluru: A storm of controversy has erupted after the name of a suspended police constable, Salim Pasha, from Mysuru’s CCB, was included in the Chief Minister’s Medal list for 2024. The medal is awarded to police personnel for exemplary service.
Pasha is currently under suspension on charges of collusion with criminals, aiding in thefts, and leaking confidential departmental information. His inclusion in the prestigious list has triggered widespread outrage, with BJP state president BY Vijayendra leading the criticism.
Vijayendra has vehemently condemned the decision, calling it a blatant disregard for discipline and transparency within the police department. He questioned the government’s priorities and accused it of turning a blind eye to the misconduct of its personnel.
The BJP leader argued that the Chief Minister’s Medal should be reserved for officers who demonstrate exceptional dedication and sacrifice in upholding law and order. By honouring a suspended constable facing serious allegations, the government has sent the wrong message and undermined the credibility of the award, according to Vijayendra.
The opposition party has demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and called for the immediate removal of Salim Pasha’s name from the medal list. The incident has raised serious concerns about the selection process for such awards and the government’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the police force.
As the controversy deepens, the government is under pressure to address the issue and restore public confidence in the police department.
