Bengaluru: The 3rd Global Public Health Conference that concluded in Bangalore got affected by several participants canceling their trip to Bangalore due to coronavirus epidemics that broke in Wuhan province of China and later spread into several countries.
Ivanka Gamage, the Managing Director of The International Institute for Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Colombo told News Karnataka that he was expecting nearly 100 participants from more than 20 countries but many scholars from South East Asia could not participate due to travel restrictions. However, they joined the Conference online, he said.
The death toll from the new coronavirus epidemic in China, that is now renamed as Covid 19 by the World Health Organization has killed more than 1,500 people, mostly from China as of now.
The Annamalai University, India and the University of Malaya, Malaysia were the co-hosts of the Conference.
