Bengaluru: Karnataka Health Minister B Sreeramulu has urged the people to not pay heed to messages on Corona Virus circulated on social media.
The Minister took to Twitter on Wednesday and assured the people of the state that the government is doing all it can to ensure that the dreaded disease that claimed thousands of lives across the globe did not spread further in the state.
“Don’t lend your ears to rumours about the Coronavirus in the social media. Rely only on the authentic information,” he tweeted.
A sense of fear engulfed the state after news of a Hyderabad techie working in Bengaluru having contracted the infection broke. The Minister said that as far as the techie is concerned, it is clear that the apartment where the software engineer was staying has been sanitised and at least 25 of his colleagues have been identified. One of them has been admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure and his blood sample has been sent for lab test.
“So far 40,207 people have been screened at the International airport. 251 blood tests have been done, of which 238 were found negative, while the rest of the reports are yet to come,” Sriramulu tweeted.
The health department said three people have been admitted to the isolation ward at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD).
The Minister had convened an emergency meeting on Tuesday morning and discussed plans to tackle the situation in case of an outbreak.
