Bengaluru: The Karnataka government confirmed seven more positive corona cases, raising the total cases to 83, an official said on Sunday.
“To date, 83 Covid-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state,” said a health official.
Currently, 75 people are undergoing treatment at designated hospitals across the state and are described to be stable.
Karnataka’s 77th coronavirus positive case is a 39-year-old male and a pharmaceutical company employee from Nanjangud, Mysuru.
On Sunday, five employees of the pharmaceutical company tested positive for the virus from the same place.
The other four include a 38-year-old man who tested positive as the 78th case. He was a contact of the 52nd case.
The 52nd case was a 35-year-ol Mysuru resident with no travel or positive case contact history.
“He was with quality assurance section of a pharmaceutical company and has been in contact with many healthcare professionals,” said an earlier official statement.
The 79th case in the state is a 21-year-old man from the same place and company.
Similarly, the 80th and 81st cases also emerged from the same place, a 31-year-old man and another 42-year-old man respectively.
Two new cases in Udupi
The state’s 82nd case is a 35-year-old man from Udupi with travel history to Dubai. Hailing from Manipura in Kaup, he returned to Mangaluru on March March 17.
Karnataka’s 83rd case and the last case for Sunday is a 29-year-old electrician from Udupi and travelled to Thiruvananthapuram.
Udupi District in-charge Minister Basavraj Bommai, confirming the same said that total cases in the district stand at three.
DK breaks the chain
Meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada district did not register any new positive cases and stood out by ‘breaking the chain’.
Confirming the same, Mangaluru South MLA tweeted and said: “Thank you all for staying home and helping to #BreakTheChain”
BBMP pulls up socks
Meanwhile, city civic body Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has identified 17 hotels to quarantine high-risk asymptomatic primary contacts of positive cases.
“BBMP has identified 17 hotels across the city to be used as quarantine centres,” tweeted the civic body commissioner B.H. Anil Kumar.
The 17 hotels will offer 1,272 rooms to quarantine susceptible people.
Similarly, the health department will be operationalising 31 fever clinics at 28 constituencies.
Aiming to fortify the medical force in the state to deal with the virus, Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has appealed to doctors to advise people on phone.
