COVID guideline violation: Rs.1 crore penalty collected in last one month

Bengaluru: In last one month, the BBMP was able to collect Rs.1 crore fine from those who violated the COVID-19 guidelines.

This mainly includes those who were found not wearing mask in the public places and those who failed to maintain social distance.

According to the data, a total of 46,959 cases were registered against those who were found venturing out without masks. From them Rs.93.86 lakh was collected in the form of fine.

A total of 3,447 persons were fined for failing to adhere to social distancing. Rs. 7.51 lakhs was collected from them as the fine. Total fine amount collected is Rs.1.01 crores.

As many as 149 shops were sealed for failing to adhere to social distance norms.

With the sudden surge in the number of Covid 19 cases, the BBMP is imposing fine through the police and the marshals.
