Crackdown On Unlicensed Gaming Zones In Bengaluru

In the wake of safety concerns triggered by a tragic incident in Rajkot, where 27 lives were lost in a gaming zone fire, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has taken stringent measures to ensure public safety. Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D K Shivakumar initiated an audit of the city’s gaming zones, leading to the closure of eight establishments found operating without the necessary licenses.

The affected zones, predominantly located in Yelahanka, lacked crucial no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the fire department and other relevant authorities. These include popular spots like Fun City in RMZ Galleria, Fun City in Mall of Asia, Fun Unlimited in Elements Mall, and Amoeba in Bharatiya City Mall. According to a BBMP official, operations have been halted pending compliance with safety regulations. The establishments will be allowed to reopen upon fulfilling all safety measures and obtaining the required NOCs.

This crackdown underscores the BBMP’s commitment to enforcing safety protocols across recreational venues in Bengaluru. The ongoing audit extends beyond gaming zones to encompass malls and other leisure destinations in the city, ensuring that all public spaces adhere to stringent safety standards.
