Bengaluru, DHNS: Traffic on the service road between 5th Main Road and 14th Main Road in HSR Layout came to a standstill early Tuesday morning due to a crane breakdown. The crane, which was being used for the construction of Namma Metro’s Blue Line (Outer Ring Road-Airport) by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), blocked one lane of the two-lane service road typically used by BMTC buses (500 series) and private vehicles.

The breakdown led to significant traffic slowdowns for vehicles traveling from Ragigudda and Silk Board towards Iblur, especially between 8:30 am and 10:00 am. Police attributed the disruption to a technical issue with the crane, which failed to start after overnight work. Mechanics were on-site addressing the problem since early morning.

“After last night’s work, the crane operators tried to start and move the crane around 5 am, but encountered engine issues. Mechanics have been working to resolve the technical snag,” said an officer from the HSR Layout traffic police station. Despite the disruption, the main carriageway of the Outer Ring Road remained unaffected, and traffic continued to flow as usual.

By 12 pm, the crane was successfully removed, clearing the way for normal traffic flow.
