Bengaluru: HSM Prakash, Retired Deputy Director-General of Geological Survey of India (GSI) has stated that it is not an air force fighter jet but Cyclone Ampan that caused a loud sound to be heard in the city on May 20 afternoon.
“Such a sound was heard Pandavapura, Nelamangala, Magadi etc on the next day also. It was a nine seconds phenomena,” he said. “Temperature was high in the Bengaluru on May 20 morning. Due to this, this sound was caused. Cyclone Ampan is causing variation in the weather,” he stated.
This contradicts the Defense ministry which said it is the sonic boom of a Sukhoi Fighter Jet. It may be recalled that on May 20, around 1.20 pm, a loud sound sent a shock wave across the entire Bengaluru city. First, The weather department ruled out the possibility of an earthquake; later the Defense Ministry claimed that it was caused by the sonic boom of a fighter jet.
