Kannada star Darshan and former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna were absent from the 79th Independence Day celebrations at Bengaluru Central Prison, sources confirmed. Darshan’s bail was revoked by the Supreme Court on August 14 in connection with the high-profile fan murder case, leading to his immediate arrest. Prajwal Revanna, grandson of ex-Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, has been incarcerated for over a year and was recently sentenced to life imprisonment in an obscene video and rape case.

Insiders say both men are in low spirits and chose to remain inside their barracks. Darshan reportedly stayed awake the entire night. Authorities have allotted remand prisoner numbers to all accused—Darshan is 7314, while his partner and first accused in the case, Pavitra Gowda, holds 7313. In the past, fans controversially tattooed Darshan’s prisoner number, sparking police action. Presently, he and three co-accused share the same barrack.

Actress Ramya, a former co-star of Darshan, responded to the developments, saying he should have surrounded himself with better influences. She praised his rise from stage light operator to cinema star but expressed deep disappointment over his recent actions, noting that success comes with responsibility.

Regarding the court’s decision, Ramya said it offers relief and sends a strong message that all are equal before the law. She also highlighted that the verdict brings long-awaited justice to Renukaswamy’s family, who come from modest means.
