Davanagere: Exactly eight years ago, a man worked as a construction labourer on an MBA block of a university. He was paid Rs 200 daily wage by the contractor. In the present day, on Wednesday evening, his daughter who studied in the same block stood next to him with the four gold medals she won in the MBA course.
This story comes straight from the campus of Davanagere University, which celebrated its 6th convocation on Wednesday, January 30. The labourer is named Nabeesab, a resident of Dange park in Davanagere city, and his daughter is N Roshan, the achiever who posed with her proud dad.
Recalling his days as a labourer at the university, Nabeesab said he never imagined that his daughter would take him to the same building later, with gold medals. “We are poor. Our only property is a good education. I believe in education. After her graduation, Roshan worked at a cloth shop to ensure that her brother, Abdul Khader will able to pursue his post graduation at Kuvempu University in Shivamogga,” he said.
An elated Roshan posed with her proud parents and brother for a photo and said that she was determined and focused. “I knew the hardships faced by my father and mother. I wanted to keep them happy. So I studied hard,” she said.
Roshan informed that she is presently employed with Infosys in Bengaluru. Her brother Khader is working in a private lab in the city.
“My sister worked for me in a cloth shop. I can’t forget her sacrifice,” said her proud brother.
