Davangere: 96 Attendees Fell Ill After Having ‘Beegara Oota’

Davangere: A total of 96 individuals who attended a Beegara Oota (lunch meetup organized by the groom’s family) fell ill. The incident occurred in Shingarihalli, Harapanahalli taluk, on Saturday. Those had lunch began experiencing diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach discomfort and were subsequently admitted to Chigateri Hospital in Davangere. Sources indicate that among the affected, 22 were children.

Harapanahalli MLA MP Lata Mallikarjun, DHO Dr. Shankarnaik, and other officials visited the hospital to inquire about the patients’ health. Dr. Shankarnaik stated that all those admitted are in stable condition and are showing signs of recovery.

Meanwhile, in Raichur, two children reportedly died due to alleged food poisoning on Sunday. Officials have visited the site, collected food and water samples, and sent them to the laboratory for analysis. Aarati, 7, and Priyanka, 9, daughters of Husenamma and Maruti, allegedly succumbed to food poisoning or dehydration.
