Govt considering amendment to Motor Vehicle’s Act: Minister

Davanagere: Transport Minister D C Tammanna said that the government would amend Motor Vehicle’s Act, to appoint required staff for the transport department.

After inspecting KSRTC bus stand and depot here on Sunday, Tammanna said that at present appointment of lower-level staff is being done.
Out of sanctioned 676 officers’ posts, including RTO and motor vehicle inspectors, only 260 officers are working. The appointment process for the vacant posts has been halted due to technical reasons of KPSC and hearing in the Supreme Court.

So, an amendment should be done for the Motor Vehicle’s Act to appoint staff required for the department directly and not through the KPSC, the Minister said.
