Davanagare: A video of a group of students misbehaving with a teacher and putting a dustbin over his head went viral on social media in Karnataka’s Davanagere District. The Education Ministry has now launched an investigation into the matter.

According to sources, the video appears to be from a government high school in Nallur, Davanagere district’s Channagiri town.

The incident occurred on December 3 and one of the students is shown on video trying to assault the teacher with a dustbin. When the teacher begins teaching in the class, a student puts the dustbin on his head.

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education B. C. Nagesh responded to the incident in a tweet, “Assault on teacher by students at a school in Channagiri Taluk of Davanagere district cannot be tolerated. Education Department and police probing the matter. Instructed to take appropriate action. We’ll always be with teachers.”

According to sources, when the teacher entered the classroom, he noticed gutka packets littered over the floor. He requested that the students maintain their discipline. When he started teaching, some of them created a nuisance.

However, considering the student’s future, the teacher has decided not to file a police complaint against them.
