Davangere: In a bizarre incident a group of trangenders created ruckus in the District Hospital here on Tuesday night after getting into an argument with the duty doctor.
Two transgenders identified as Irfan and Subhan have been arrested in this regard for assaulting the doctors and also the police.
It is said that the transgenders had brought one of their companions to the hospital for treatment. Soon, they picked fight with the duty doctor named Shashidhar. When the police intervened, the transgenders snatched away their lathis and also assaulted constable Nagaraju, who suffered injuries in the melee. During the course of the fight, one of the transgenders started stripping off in front of the doctors and created nuisance in the hospital premises.
Several equipment of the hospital too have been damaged. Superintendent of Police Dr Bheemashankar Guleda and Chigateri district hospital medical superintendent Neelambike visited the spot. The hospital staff have sought police protection and action against the suspects for obstructing government officials from performing their duty and for assaulting the duty doctor.
A case has been registered in this regard.
