Day one of alcohol sale: Two related deaths reported

Bengaluru: Two related deaths were reported, on the day one of the alcohol sale, on Monday.

First death is reported from Kamakshipalya in the city. Devadas, 22, a migrant worker from West Bengal died after falling into the drainage under the influence of alcohol.

In their complaint, family members informed the Kamakshipalya police that Devadas was working in a local store.

“On Monday morning he went with his friend to buy alcohol. He seemed to have got drunk and as he was not in his senses, he fell into a drain and succumbed to head injuries at a local hospital,” they informed.

Second incident was reported from Sidedahalli under Bagalgunte police limits. Karan Singh, a daily wage labourer was murdered by his friends after consuming alcohol as they started an argument over a trivial issue.

Suicide attempt
A youth allegedly tried to commit suicide in Palegarapalya under Kalasipalya police limits after his parents declined him money to buy alcohol.

Harish, 23, is the youth who attempted suicide. He set himself on fire as his parents denied money for drinks.

He has been rushed to Victoria hospital with 80% burn injuries.
